has been writing
and illustrating fun and educational children’s books
for over 25 years. Described as “one of Boston’s
leading illustrators” by the Art Directors Club of
Boston, Bob began his career as an Art Therapist in Ohio. Upon
moving to Boston in 1974, he established himself in the
fields of advertising and comic book illustration: first
working as art director with Allied Advertising and then
assisting Al Capp with the famous L’il Abner and
Daisy Mae comics. Since his first book, THE
ELEPHANT’S VISIT, was published by Little Brown
in 1976, Barner has worked as a freelance artist and writer. His
award-winning material is created through a variety of
mediums; including cut and torn paper, watercolor, pen
and ink, and three-dimensional material. Additionally,
Bob enjoys speaking about his creative process at conferences,
schools and libraries. He has also been featured
in a live interactive television show by MCET and in an
educational slide/tape show produced by Allyn and Bacon. Barner
now resides in San Francisco with his wife Cathy. www.bobbarner.com |
